October 23, 2020 | The FPSC plays an important role in advocating for and supporting partnerships on the ground, so that family doctors and divisions can collaborate successfully with health authorities, resulting in better care for patients.
An example of this kind of collaboration can be found in Powell River, where the division, health authority and community partners came together to create an innovative COVID-19 testing center that is increasing crucial health care capacity as we move into the flu season and making it safer for patients, doctors and other providers. By enabling faster identification of COVID-19 cases, the center will help to reduce the risk of community transmission. Powell River Division Board Chair, Dr David May, says the willingness of all partners to come together toward a common goal is the key to success.
