What is UpToDate?
UpToDate is an award-winning online clinical decision support resource, available to Divisions of Family Practice members for use in individual practices at no cost to the individual family physician. Visit your local Division website to become a Division member to access UpToDate. UpToDate provides a comprehensive offering of graphics, calculators, patient education and clinical updates designed to support your clinical practice and enhance efficiency, all in one convenient resource. All UpToDate topic searches are CME eligible for registered users. 

Medical students and residents can also access UpToDate at no cost through the Student/Resident access. 

How to access UpToDate

To access UpToDate, log in to the member login area of the Divisions of Family Practice website  or to your local Division homepage, log in and click on the UpToDate menu item on the top navigation bar.

  • Claim CME credits earned for UpToDate searches. 
  • Use the UpToDate mobile app. 
  • Log in to the UpToDate website directly.

UpToDate Anywhere Mobile App

How to access UpToDate on your mobile device: 

  1. Download the applicable app for your mobile device: 
    iPhone® and iPad®: Download the UpToDate app from the App Store. 
    Android®: Download the UpToDate app from Google Play. 
  2. Once the applicable mobile app is downloaded on your smart device, log in using the UpToDate username and password you received when you registered for UpToDate. 

[Note: You can access UpToDate on two different mobile devices.]  

How to maintain remote access to UpToDate

Every 180 days, you must log in to UpToDate through the Divisions website to confirm you are still connected with a Division. You will receive an email from UpToDate to remind you to log in to UpToDate through the Divisions website before your access expires. 

When you receive the email, go to www.divisionsbc.ca or to your local Division homepage and click on “Member Login” at the top right-hand corner of the page. 

If you have forgotten your password, click on ‘Reset your Password’ and enter your Divisions website username or your email address to be resent your login information. 

Once you log in, click on the “My UpToDate” link. Once you are redirected to the UpToDate site, your access to UpToDate will be renewed for another 180 days. 

CME Credits

All UpToDate topic searches are CME eligible for registered users. UpToDate tracks and logs physicians’ search activity and time spent reading articles, and stores the information for up to 2 years. Physicians can then claim the accrued credits. For more information on earning CME credits, click here.
