Funding extensions for inpatient care, maternity care in hospital, and long-term care

Funding extensions for inpatient care, maternity care in hospital, and long-term care

FPSC would like to thank the divisions of family practice and their doctors for their continued dedication to supporting facility-based inpatient, maternity, and long-term care in your communities. Expanding the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model to these areas is a priority and the November 9 LFP Payment Model newsletter outlined two interim measures to support doctors while the expansion is being finalized.

  • Extension of bridge funding to the divisions of family practice for physicians providing inpatient hospital care.
  • Extension of funding for physicians providing maternity care in hospital and long-term care.

These funding extensions provide certainty to physicians and divisions through September 2024.

Divisions of family practice will continue to administer the inpatient care funding. The funding renewal process is being developed, and details will be provided in the new year.

The maternity and long-term care funding will be administered as grants for which individual physicians will apply. Grant application information will be available later this year.
