Moving to a new place can be stressful for anyone, but especially when you are a senior. Diana Hilliard and her husband Joe moved from Ontario to Kelowna early in 2015. They had been forewarned that it might be difficult to find a doctor and Diana quickly discovered that it was a reality. After calling several family practices, Diana heard about the Mobile Assessment Unit established by the Central Okanagan Division of Family Practice to assist seniors with finding a doctor.
A visit to the Mobile Assessment Unit assessed the Hilliards’ medical needs and helped them find a doctor within six weeks of arriving in the community.
