A​ modern full-service family practice clinic located in a busy mall in the heart of Courtenay. ​Southwood Medical has modern furnishings, equipment and ample parking for staff and patients.

Job Summary:
Opportunity for a full-time Family Practitioner in the Southwood Medical Clinic in Driftwood Mall, which is anchored by a large grocery store and Canadian Tire. One FP currently working full-time is hoping to retire and needs replacement. Opportunity for sharing the retiring FP’s practice or for two part time practices. The clinic currently has 2 other full time FP’s. This is a new office (2010) with full EMR (Intrahealth) and experienced, congenial, helpful staff.

Privileges at Comox Valley Hospital are encouraged, if desired. Obstetrics are an asset but not mandatory. The clinic also teaches both medical students and FP Residents.

Southwood Medical is a teaching clinic and often has medical students or a family practice resident training in the clinic. Obstetrics are welcome as are surgical assists or any other specialty within family practice. At CVH, Doctor of the Day duties are available and encouraged but emergency shifts are not available.

Shift/Hours of Work: Clinic hours plus one evening clinic per week; hospital rounds one weekend in ten

Remuneration: Fee for Service

Benefits: May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Recruitment Incentive - $10,000; Fee Premium – 6.93%; Annual Flat Fee - $6,967; Rural CME starting at $2,200/annum after three years in the community increasing to a maximum of $4,400 after 4 years.

The physician community comprises 16 full-service medical clinics, two walk-in clinics and a military base clinic. CVH, the new 153-bed acute care hospital, opened in October 2017. 

Qualifications:
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life SUpport (ACLS) desired
