Westward Medical

We are a team of two family physicians and a dedicated clinic coordinator, and we are looking to grow. Our vision is to have a small group of 4 to 5 family physicians with whom we can create a patient-centered clinic that also supports physician wellbeing and thriving. We want to create real partnerships with patients and to explore innovative models of care, including virtual group visits/workshops. 

We aim to leverage technology to streamline our workflows and to create office efficiencies to keep overhead low. We also intend to incorporate virtual visits permanently into our practices. Each of our physicians will work from home one day each week, at a minimum.

We use a modern EMR, Inputhealth, which easily allows for this vision by integrating video visits, online booking, and automated appointment reminders within the EMR system. Additional features such as customizable encounter templates and virtual patient questionnaires further reduce administration and charting time and improve patient experience.

We are active members of our community's growing PCN, and will be incorporating allied health members in the next few weeks. We are also interested in exploring the new group contracts, and consider quality improvement to be an integral part of our clinic's practice.

We are open to incorporating a physician with an existing patient panel looking for a change, or to building a panel for a physician new to the area.

Status: Full-Time or Part-Time - New practice opportunity

Location: Courtenay, BC

Shift/Hours of Work: Flexible hours, will include some virtual work from home

Remuneration: Fee for Service. NOTE: we are very interested in exploring the new group contract option as a team.

Overhead: Cost sharing, exact costs TBD. Our goal is to reduce overhead to less that 20% of billings. There might be an opportunity to invest in the clinic business/property.

Benefits: May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Retention Premium - 6.93%; Retention Flat Fee - $6,967; Recruitment Incentive - $10,000; Other Benefits/Incentives - Rural CME starting at $ 2,200/annum years 3&4 in the community increasing to a maximum of $4,400 /annum after 4 years.

Qualifications: 
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC, OR
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
