Dr. Cathy Clelland, Secretary

Dr. Clelland obtained medical training at the University of Alberta and her Family Medicine residency at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton.  She practiced full service family medicine BC beginning in 1986 first in Prince George, then Kelowna 1992 - 2004 and finally in Coquitlam 2004 - 2010. Dr. Clelland is the Medical Director for Primary Care at BC Cancer and maintains a focused practice in primary maternity care in Port Moody since 2006, as well as part-time support to the Kwikwitlam First Nations Primary Care Clinic since late 2020 and joined the team at the Fraser Regional Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association Primary Care Clinic in 2021.  She also works as a consultant to the GP Services Committee and provides billing and practice management seminars through CMA’S Joule Practice Management Curriculum to residents and practicing family physicians in BC through BC Family Doctors/FPSC Billing Webinars. She joined the Board of BC Family Doctors (previously known as the Society of General Practitioners of BC) in 1997, was president in 2002/03 and subsequently was Executive Director from 2004 – 2013. Dr. Clelland returned as a district delegate to BC Family Doctors and the Doctors of BC Representative Assembly in 2019.  She delivered babies at Royal Columbian Hospital from 2006 to 2019 and was also local department head of Family Medicine at Royal Columbian Hospital from 2015 to 2019.

Dr. Clelland is married and a mother of a daughter attending university to become an opera singer, as well as step-mother to 4 adult sons.  She is an avid BC Lions and Canucks fan and is known to enjoy a few rounds of golf on local par 3 courses.
