Obstetricians have special training for high-risk pregnancies; they do not provide care for the newborn. Obstetricians act as consultants to your family physician or midwife if pregnancy issues arise. They also provide primary antenatal care for women with medical conditions, obstetric risk factors, multiple pregnancies, and those with problems in previous pregnancies.
A referral from a primary care provider is needed. For more information about the Obstetrician/Gynecologist group, please visit their website.
