
Dr. William Mak, MD, CCFP(AM), CCSAM is a dedicated family physician and addiction medicine physician based in British Columbia. He currently serves as a board member of the Fraser Northwest Division of Family Practice, where he contributes to strategic planning and advocacy for primary care. Prior to this role, Dr. Mak served as a resident advisor on the board, bringing a valuable early-career perspective to organizational leadership.
With both enhanced skills in Addiction Medicine and certification from the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine, Dr. Mak is actively involved across the full spectrum of addiction care—from acute hospital-based interventions to long-term, bed-based treatment programs. His clinical practice is rooted in compassionate, evidence-informed care for individuals with substance use disorders.
In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Mak is deeply committed to medical education, mentoring addiction medicine fellows, residents, and medical students, contributing to the development of future healthcare providers. His excellence in early-career practice was recognized in 2025 when he received the prestigious “First Five Years of Practice Award” from the BC College of Family Physicians (BCCFP).
