Learn skills to support your mental health and help your patients deal with stress, anxiety and depression, while also earning CPD credits!
Join your colleagues for an online, 8-week series that combines practical skills from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with teaching on awareness, self-compassion and emotions.
The CBT Skills Group Program is a highly successful physician-led program currently delivered to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and online (www.cbtskills.ca). Many physicians have participated as facilitator trainees and for professional development, and physician-only groups are now being offered.
In this course, participants will learn more than 40 highly practical self-management skills for regulating emotions, enhancing self-care and self-compassion, and cultivating more conscious ways of thinking and acting. While you can certainly pass these skills on to your patients, most physician participants have found the material and shared learning experience supportive of personal well-being as well.
The group will be delivered online as a Zoom session of 2 hours weekly, facilitated by Dr. Erin Burrell, a psychiatrist who co-founded the program. You can earn CPD credits for your participation (3 Mainpro+ credits per hour). Fees to participate in this program will be covered by the Surrey-North Delta Division of Family Practice and Shared Care.
If you would like to participate, or if you have any questions, please contact Heather McConnell at hmcconnell@divisionsbc.ca.
