Dr. Fujiwara has been working in Surrey for 38 years, beginning her practice in Cloverdale, and founding many programs which continue to provide much-needed care for young people today.

Adolescent health is of particular interest to Dr. Fujiwara. Shortly after starting her practice she was asked to work at the Surrey Youth Clinic in Adolescent Health and worked to build the clinic up to what it is now. More recently, she worked as a physician in the Youth Wellness Clinic in Langley Public Health.

In 1985 to 2013, Dr. Fujiwara founded the SCAN/HEAL clinic in Surrey (a clinic for examination and treatment of children and youth who had been victims of child abuse and neglect), where she worked until 2013.

In 1990, Dr. Fujiwara left general practice but continued to work with children and youth. She began the Fraser South Eating Disorders clinic (now located in Delta) with two other physicians, and worked at the Fraser North Eating Disorder clinic as well.

Dr. Fujiwara recently retired from the Eating Disorders and Langley Youth clinics, but she continues to work in the Surrey Youth Clinic as it moves towards incorporating with Foundry North Surrey, where she is a member of the Executive and Leadership committees.

In addition to her extensive work as a family physician, Dr. Fujiwara has served on the boards of OPTIONS and is actively involved in the Surrey White Rock Integrated Youth Collaborative, which is working towards establishing integrated youth health for the rest of Surrey.

In addition to her passion for child and youth health, Dr. Fujiwara loves horses, and is actively involved in the equestrian community.

She has served on the board of the Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities in Langley and currently also serves on the board of the Campbell Valley Equestrian Society.
