The KB Division’s Physician Wellness and Culture Committee have curated a list of programs to accompany you along your professional and personal journey to wellness. From professional coaching to peer mentoring, there’s something for you. Scroll below to explore four ways you can connect with a coaching professional.

1. KB Division’s Professional & Personal Coaching

Sign up for coaching to accompany you during your professional and personal journey.
Every theme is on the table.

  • Leadership (staff management, team building, staff empowerment, conflict resolution)
  • Personal wellness (life goals, sustainability & satisfaction)
  • Workflow (practice efficiency, effective care plan processes)
  • Professional and personal transitions planning

Your own Division has contracted local ICF-certified Coaches for you and will cover their fees for a block of sessions (6 hours). To access this entirely confidential service, simply pick one of our Coaches below, and contact them directly to set up your first session. Steps have been put in place to balance confidentiality and accountability. It’s that simple.

For more than 20 years, Alicia has helped individuals and organizations achieve growth that deeply matters to their personal and professional wellbeing. She has worked most recently in primary health care in the Kootenays, and previously in the non-profit, public, higher education, and philanthropic sectors across Canada and internationally.

Through a lens of organizational culture, management and leadership she is attuned to the frequent disconnect between leaders'/organizations' external purpose and everyday internal dynamics. Alicia is passionate about coaching that allows clients to be deeply heard, work from their strengths, recognize what may be stuck, and discover a meaningful way forward. She holds a Masters in Human Systems Intervention & Organizational Development and is a certified practitioner in Restorative Justice, Yasodhara Yoga, and Integral Coaching.

Coach for Seth Godin's altMBA, CTI Coach (ICF) - 2021

"I came to coaching as a doctor looking for better ways to help my patients... and inadvertently changed my own life. Deciding with confidence what you want, and getting it, is a beautiful thing. So here we are: I'm bringing what I've learned to you.

You're impact-oriented and want to enjoy what you do. You're smart, you've achieved much of what you set out to accomplish and you're ready for what's next; work and life that's sustainable and satisfying. You're not looking for advice or a long-term commitment; you want skills and insights you can use moving forwards on your own. You're motivated, hard-working and ready to make moves, I'll help you figure out exactly what you're aiming for and how to land it". ~ Dr. Ainsley McCaskill

2. UBC Peer Coaching and Mentoring

Earn credits while receiving advice from a Mentor through this incredibly flexible program.

Our friends at UBC Rural Continuing Professional Development (UBC-RCPD) created the Coaching and Mentoring Program (CAMP) as a way to foster peer connections in rural practitioner networks to improve your practice, increase your confidence, and connect you to rural colleagues.

Mentor/coaches provide support in a wide variety of areas including transitions in practice, clinical topics, personal wellness, and more. Peer support can take many forms, from an occasional phone call with a mentor to a site visit to shadow a specialist as they perform procedures you don’t see often in your town.

Get started today by contacting the CAMP team at camp.rcpd@ubc.ca

3. The Physician Health Program (BC-wide)

Get prompt psychological support now.

Call the Physician Health Program to access private, discreet assistance for you and your family, 24-hour a day. Get prompt support, referrals, and counselling for challenges such as Relationship stress, Mental health, Career and life transitions, Substance use, Concern for colleagues, Occupational health, and Financial issues. Seeking help is being strong.

4. Free Drop-in COVID-19 Physician Peer Support Sessions (BC-wide)

Sessions will focus on peer support, not psychiatric care. Wednesdays 12-1 PST.
