Kootenay Boundary Division of Family Practice

CASTLEGAR - Castlegar Medical Associates

THE OPPORTUNITY

CASTLEGAR MEDICAL ASSOCIATES (IHA-8728)

Come live and work where others only vacation!

DETAILS

This clinic is seeking a full-time or part-time Family Practitioner to join their group of seven multinational doctors, two practice nurses, and a highly organized group of friendly office staff.

Current Physicians have a great dynamic in the clinic and are very supportive of any new colleagues. The practice has an established base of patients with room for growth. Physicians and staff use the Profile electronic medical records system by Intrahealth, and have been on this system for the past three years. The clinic has an effective in-house biller to ensure we are not undervaluing ourselves. We have in-house access to a Chronic Disease Management Nurse a well as in–house counseling and psychiatric sessions.

Work in the local emergency room urgent care centre is encouraged and has approximately a one-in- ten rotation. On call hours are 8AM to 8PM. No night call. Obstetric practice with intra-partum care is available (two of our clinic physicians deliver in the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail). No care for hospital in-patients is required but taking part in the local hospitalist rotation can be applied for.

If any of this interests you contact us for a site-visit and couple it with your next outdoor adventure; we ski, rock climb, mountain bike, fly fish, kayak, or hike right out our back door!

For those interested, Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. The NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program is a comprehensive leadership development program designed specifically for physicians to address the practical leadership knowledge, behaviours and skills that high potential, emerging medical leaders require to step into leadership roles early in their careers.

Apply today to live work and play where others only vacation! It's better here!

COMMUNITY

Castlegar is located at the confluence of two great rivers – the Kootenay and the Columbia – which come together to form a fertile valley with a rich cultural heritage and a thriving artistic scene. This convergence results in a lifestyle that physicians in particular love: flexible practice options, access to the outdoors and a great place to raise your family. All reasons why Castlegar is becoming one of the most desirable places to live in the Kootenays.

‘Go with the flow' has a whole new meaning here, in the place where rivers shape both landscape and lifestyle. We have what you might call a streamlined approach to both work and life. No-nonsense. Level-headed. Sure, we can access full-on adventures in nearby Nelson and Rossland whenever we want, but sometimes we like our adventures on the quieter side.

From Castlegar, it’s a quick drive to three alpine ski hills nearby, at Red Mountain, Whitewater or Salmo. The epic mountain bike trails in Rossland and Nelson are only thirty minutes away. But you’ll soon find plenty to keep you engaged right here.

Enjoy strolls along the riverbanks, or high alpine treks on dozens of well-maintained hikes. Rock climbers – sport climbers, trad climbers and boulderers – have been coming here since the 1950s and as a result, the climbing community is well established. There are 70 rock climbs within city limits, 70 kilometers of snowmobiling trails in nearby Pass Creek, and 45 kilometers of packed and tracked trails for all levels at the nearby Paulson Cross Country Ski Trails.
