Job Summary 

Oceanside PCN is opening a new clinic in Coombs, BC. The PCN is seeking family physicians to join the practice.  This clinic will enjoy all the benefits of the PCN including a team-based care model with nurses, pharmacists and social workers.   

The clinic is currently being constructed and will be bright, new, and only 10 minutes from the center of Qualicum Beach and Parksville.  Easily access the huge oceanside trail network, both hiking and biking, as well as our beautiful beaches.

The lovely, bright, and modern clinic, recently renovated, offers two exam rooms, a large office, a kitchen, and a private washroom. The space is large enough to add another physician if needed. In addition, another GP in the building is interested in forming a group practice. 

This practice uses Med Access as an EMR with up-to-date patient charts. Currently billing under Fee for Service but can easily transition to the new Longitudinal Family Practice Payment Model. The staff consists of a very experienced and highly resourceful Medical Office Assistant. 

This clinic participates in the new Port Alberni Primary Care Network and enjoys the additional support of a nurse in practice three days per week. There is also the option to provide inpatient and long-term care to attached patients at the West Coast General Hospital and local care homes. If you are interested in Emergency Room work or low-risk obstetrics, this is also available. 

The community also offers the support of local surgeons, internists, pediatricians, urologists, psychiatrists, gynecologists, and a geriatrician.

One full time or two part time physicians required to take over a well-established panel of 800 patients by September 2024. Opportunity to expand if desired. There is also the option to participate in hospital or ER work if interested. The options to diversify your practice with long-term care patients, addictions medicine, palliative care, and other allied services are available. Low overhead structure compliments generous payment options including LFP or NTP contracts, along with Fee for Service billing as required. 

This practice is located in the West Coast Medical Centre. There are currently 4 full-service family physicians on site. This building is also home to a pharmacy, Lifelabs and a Walk-in Clinic. 1 Practice Share Partner

 

Seeking 1 practice share partner, to join an existing family physician at this well-established 650 panel family practice. The clinic is located in a bright, new building in beautiful Port Alberni and is shared with two other physicians.  Hours are flexible and some can be done virtually or from home, with the option of expanding in the future. There is a full-time PCN nurse in the clinic, shared amongst the providers. There is also a link nurse to help with the management of the most frail and vulnerable patients.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in also doing ER shifts or hospitalist work in the community.  It offers a better balance so that you can enjoy various facets of family medicine.

The friendly staff consists of 3.5 medical office assistants. The building is home to a pediatrician, pharmacy, holter and basic cardiac testing clinic, as well as a skin clinic, and acupuncture and massage. Next door is home to Port Alberni’s internal medicine group.

Overhead cost split will be based on the number of days in office. Currently the overhead is split evenly between the three physicians, about 23% of income.

One full-time family physician is required to take over an existing practice with a patient panel of 1700 in beautiful Port Alberni. The current physician is planning on retirement but is happy to stay on through the transition.  This bright, modern clinic uses MedAccess EMR. There are 2 experienced and friendly Medical Office Assistants. This practice is a part of a larger group of independently working physicians who cover each other during vacation times.

West Coast General Hospital Community Hospital Inpatient Physician

The West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking family physicians to join our ‘Community Hospital Inpatient Physician’ (CHIP) team. Full time or part time positions are available. In this role CHIP team members will act as MRP care for unattached & unassigned inpatients to the Family Practice service at WCGH. This includes rounding on inpatients to the service, arranging service transfers and inter-facility repatriations, discharge planning and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service. CHIP team members will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages, with a wide variety of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders, providing both direct and indirect patient care. Transportation costs and temporary short term housing for physicians and their families is available.

Orchard Medical Centre, located in Port Alberni, has an opportunity for an additional physician to start a new practice or consider taking over an established patient panel from the current physician who is considering eventual retirement. As they transition to full retirement, the current physician is interested in providing part-time clinic hours. The clinic is located in a 3-level building which is owned by the current physician. With an experienced MOA, whether you are looking to start your own practice or are ready to eventually take over an established practice, there are many opportunities here to make it your own. The existing family practice of 43 years is paper-based, with electronic billing. This allows you to choose your own preferred EMR, if desired.

Priority Response Team Physicians

Part time or full time  family physicians

The Oceanside Primary Care Network is seeking family practitioners to work collaboratively together as a group and with other health care providers (e.g. registered nurses, occupational therapists, and clinical pharmacists) as members of a Priority Response Team (PRT).  This team will provide primary care consultative services, to include clinical assessments and care planning, for local patients in their homes 365 days per year.

The Priority Response Team (PRT), in partnership with Oceanside’s community health care teams, supports the provision of expedited primary care to patients in Oceanside’s small and rural communities. 

The group of physicians will be expected to collectively provide 2,520 hours of clinical services per fiscal year.  Patient care will be provided for about 7 hours each day generally between 1000 and 1800, however, actual hours may vary from day to day as flexibility of hours may be necessary to ensure a priority response for patient care. The physicians will manage their shared schedule and hours to effectively, efficiently, and timely; provide care for patients, with the aim of preventing patients’ hospital admissions or facilitating patients’ discharges from hospital.

In this group service contract position the family practitioner will share after-hours coverage with the other practitioners of the PRT.
