Behavior of Board, Committee Members, Members and Staff

This Code of Conduct sets out the minimum standard of conduct required of all members of the Division when participating in any events, meetings or other activities sponsored by the Division. This code addresses the main relevant areas but is not designed to be exhaustive.

Members shall deal with each other, and with staff of the Division, openly, honestly, truthfully and in good faith and shall observe proper decorum at all times.

Members’ and staff interactions shall be courteous, respectful and free of animosity.

Members and staff shall engage in respectful communication, honoring opinions, and focusing on issues not personalities.

Members will align communication and ethical practices with the CMA Code of Ethics.

While individual opinions are welcome they need to be clearly stated as an individual opinion, not as an CIDFP opinion.

Consequences for non-compliance of this Code of Conduct will be as determined by the Board of CIDFP and may include any one or more of the following:

  • Letter to the Member or staff member
  • Exclusion from Division activities or duties
  • Suspension or expulsion from the Division

 

Workplace Bullying and Harassment

Workplace conduct

Bullying and harassment is not acceptable or tolerated in this workplace. All workers will be treated in a fair and respectful manner by staff, Board and CIDFP members.

Bullying and harassment

Includes any inappropriate conduct or comment by a person towards a worker or member that the person knew or reasonably ought to have known would cause that worker or member to be humiliated or intimidated, but excludes any reasonable action taken by an employer or supervisor relating to the management and direction of workers or the place of employment.

Examples of conduct or comments that might constitute bullying and harassment include verbal aggression or insults, calling someone derogatory names, harmful hazing or initiation practices, vandalizing personal belongings, and spreading malicious rumors.

Staff, Board and members must:

  • not engage in the bullying and harassment of other workers or members
  • report if bullying and harassment is observed or experienced
  • apply and comply with CIDFP policies and procedures on bullying and harassment

Application

This policy statement applies to all workers, including permanent, temporary, casual, contract, board members, CIDFP members and students. It applies to interpersonal and electronic communications, such as email.
