Over the past five years, the town of Squamish has experienced substantial and ongoing growth. Between 2016 and 2021, the population increased by 22%, reaching a total of 23,819 residents, according to the 2021 Census. Notably, 38% of the population is within the 20-39 age range, highlighting the town's continued attractiveness to young adults and families. As a result, Squamish is a youthful and vibrant community, with an average age of just 37.9 years, significantly below the provincial average of 42.3 years.

Whistler’s permanent population, as of the 2021 census, is 13,982, while it has 2,432 seasonal residents.  With year-round outdoor activities, Whistler sees over 3 million visitors annually. While Whistler is an active community, 36% of its population is within the 30-49 age range, keeping it a young, vibrant town.
