The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, has well established group of physicians serving the Municipality which includes Fort Nelson, Toad River, Prophet River and Fort Nelson First Nations. In addition, a large portion of patient care is provided to travelers and workers in the region as Fort Nelson is the largest town between Fort St. John and the Yukon Territory border.
The physicians, Medical Clinic, Fort Nelson General Hospital (Acute Care Beds: 15, Residential care beds: 7), Public Health unit and Emergency Services are all located in Fort Nelson which is located at Mile 300 (km 483) of the Alaska Highway 97 at the confluence of the Sikanni, Muskwa and Prophet Rivers in northeastern British Columbia. The Fort Nelson and Prophet River First Nations have community health centers.
Nearest Major Medical Centre: Prince George (820 km)
There is a Community Health Plan Steering Committee, with participation by Chief of Staff, Northern Health COO and HSA, Local First Nation Health representatives, Emergency services, and Public Health and Municipality councilors.
With the support and assistance of the Rural and Remote Division of Family Practice team, the Fort Nelson Chapter is looking forward to addressing healthcare improvement in community and facilities, physician development and capacity building, collaboration with partners to improve access to relevant primary care in our community.

You’re only minutes away from fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation opportunities which include: horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, river boating & much more.
