Medical Assistance in Dying
It is expected that Canadians will ask their physician about medical assistance in dying (MAiD) with increasing frequency. In 2016 the CMA launched a self-led foundational online MAiD course that helps members understand the basics and have conversations with their patients. As it is self-led, space is unlimited.
For members considering offering MAiD to their patients, Joule™ and the CMA have recently launched an advanced facilitated MAiD course. The course is a follow-up to the foundational course and provides comprehensive in-depth education on topics related to medical assistance in dying, as well as advanced practical training for physicians. The course has been designed to help physicians not only have a conversation about MAiD with their patients, but also potentially guide them through the process.
Space is limited for the advanced course and only 2 offerings in 2017: May 1 or September 18. (Completion of the foundational self-led online course is a prerequisite.)
