Dr Loewen worked as a rural FP in Fernie for 16 years, spent two years in the remote community of Steward, BC and raised four children with his wife. These experiences motivated him to help shape the evolution of primary rural health care (even if in a small way). He has a keen interest in sport and the environment, both of which help keep him sane. He finds working with the Division and meeting FPs from other communities with similar goals and challenges to be a very rewarding experience.
