A GP For Me

Finding a Family Physician

If you are a White Rock-South Surrey resident and do not have a family doctor, call the Central Registry at 604 531-3111 for a referral.

If required, a nurse practitioner will conduct a health screening and/or staff will help match you with a family doctor in our community. This process is conducted through our Primary Care Access Clinic, located with the curling rink at the Centre for Active Living at 1475 Anderson Street (next to Centennial Arena).

A GP for Me is an initiative of the Government of BC and Doctors of BC. It aims to:

  • strengthen the continuous family physician-patient relationship.
  • better support the needs of vulnerable patients.
  • enable patients who want a family doctor to find one.
  • increase the capacity and improve the delivery of primary care in our community.

Your Partner in Health

Having a regular family doctor can help keep you healthier. Over time, your doctor gets to know you and your medical history. This knowledge makes it easier to diagnose concerns, order the right tests or refer you to the best person to help address your health issues.

A GP for Me in Action

In 2010, our Division was chosen as one of three communities to be a prototype for an initiative called A GP for Me. The goal was to make it possible for every White Rock-South Surrey resident who wanted a regular family doctor to find one.

Working closely with Fraser Health, as well as the Peach Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation, we are pleased to say that we’ve been successful, finding a regular family doctor for more than 12,000 residents. Now, we are able to match unattached patients with family doctors without any wait time. A GP for Me was rolled-out province-wide in 2013.
