Increasing Cervical Cancer Screening among South Asian and New Immigrant Populations
This project focuses on increasing cervical cancer screening among targeted populations through activities like supporting GPs and clinics in screening uptake and hosting community education events. This project included a GP and MOA ‘Dine and Learn’ event on May 1, 2017 that included an overview of the new BC Cancer Agency screening guidelines with a question period and ways to support females to have paps when there are cultural barriers.
Other activities to date have include creating a referral list of female GPs who are willing to complete PAP tests for patients who may feel there are barriers to having them done by their own GP. A communications plan in also being created to assist Community groups, MOA's and GP's to talk to their patients about cervical cancer screening.
