Right Care Right Place
Choose the Right Care at the Right Place
The Division, in collaboration with Fraser Health and with financial support from the Peace Arch Hospital & Community Health Foundation, has launched a public education campaign about health care options available to patients in order for them to “Choose the right care at the right place”.
We are doing this to strengthen the connection between patients and primary care providers and maximize the use of community based services, thereby reducing the reliance on the hospital for non-urgent emergency care.
Laminated posters are available upon request for community organizations. They are available in the following sizes and formats:
1) Poster (18x24)
2) Poster (11x17)
3) Poster (8.5x11)
4) Rack Card (4x9)
Please email wrssdfp@divisionsbc.ca to request posters.
Health concern?
For most medical problems and health concerns, call your family doctor first. Your family doctor knows you and your medical history.
Same-day urgent appointments are available.
Family doctor not available?
Check medimap.ca for White Rock-South Surrey walk-in clinic wait times and hours.
Request that a copy of the visit be sent to your family doctor.
Trusted health advice?
Call 8-1-1, HealthLinkBC, available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Speak with a representative who will help you find health information and services, or connect you with a nurse for health advice, a dietician for nutrition information, or a pharmacist for medication advice.
Urgent medication refill?
Speak with your pharmacist.
Your pharmacist may be able to provide an emergency refill of your prescription, including medications for chronic conditions.
Contact your pharmacist for minor issues that might be managed with over-the-counter medications.
Critical or life threatening condition?
Call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Hospital emergency rooms are not the place to go for common illnesses or minor injuries.
