Dr Valerie Ehasoo - Secretary

Dr Ehasoo has been practicing as a family physician for 12 years, six of these in Victoria. She currently works at the Health Point Care Centre. She is also a relief physician at the Victoria Youth Clinic, a locum physician at the Island Sexual Health Society, and a clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Medicine.

Dr Ehasoo graduated from the University of Ottawa with her MD and was a university gold medalist for the class of 1997. She was in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Queen's University in Kingston from 1997-1999 and a senior house officer at Pacific Health in Tauranga Hospital, New Zealand in 1999-2000. She is currently undertaking the Leadership Development and Project Management course at Simon Fraser University.

Dr Ehasoo worked in the emergency department at North Shore Hospital in Auckland in 2000 and did emergency medicine in the Belleville General Hospital from 2001-2004. From 2000-2004 she worked as a locum family physician with a special interest in Aboriginal health and remote medicine. This included positions in Sioux Lookout, Moose Factory, and communities across Nunavut and the Queen Charlotte Islands. From 2003-2004 she was a physician trainer in Bosnia working for the Queen's Family Medicine Development Program in the Balkans.

Dr Ehasoo has also conducted research into chronic lung disease in Nepalese women in the Patan General Hospital in Nepal.

She joined the Victoria division in 2011 and took on the role of physician lead in 2012.
