This is a reminder to please take a minute to learn and submit your interest and feedback about this upcoming pilot of the Family Practice Services Committee's (FPSC) new After-Hours Coverage Program (AHCP). The pilot is scheduled to launch in our community at the end of March 2023.
The AHCP is a partnership between the Ministry of Health, Doctors of BC, HealthLink BC and Divisions of Family Practice to meet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC Practice Standard for Care Coverage Outside Regular Office Hours. During the recent Doctors of BC engagement series after hours care was identified as one of the top three burdens facing longitudinal family physicians.
During the pilot, the AHCP service will be available to attached longitudinal patients of participating family physicians, nurse practitioners, and walk-in clinics operating as patient medical homes in the pilot communities.
At this time, we are looking to gauge initial interest from family physicians and nurse practitioners in the pilot communities—in using the service and/or in staffing the service. This information will help us to plan the service capacity and required staffing levels. By mid-January, the actual sign-up page to use/staff the service will be available.
