Division sparks physician interest at Family Medicine Forum in Toronto

Division staff attended the Family Medicine Forum in Toronto last week to spark physician interest in moving to Victoria. Connecting with FPs at national medical conferences is one part of the Division’s multi-pronged approach to help attract doctors to our region.

Attending physicians were well aware of BC’s upcoming new FP payment model option and kept the Islanddocs table busy throughout the conference. Many commented they would now contemplate BC and particularly the Island. Project manager Helen Welch will continue to engage with candidates who are interested in Victoria and offer support to explore workplaces that might be a good fit. Typically, one to two years pass between the initial contact and a move to Victoria.
