Victoria Divisions of Family Practice

Consider joining the Victoria Division of Family Practice Board of Directors:

Express interest in an appointment by July 7

The Victoria Division of Family Practice is seeking Expressions of Interest for appointment to the Board of Directors for 2023-2024.

As per the VDFP Bylaws the Board may appoint up to five additional Directors. Up to two appointments are for family medicine residents and up to three other directors who may or may not be members of the society as per the following categories:

  • First Nations person or other underrepresented group
  • New to practice family physician
  • Experience in government or policy development
  • Financial/accounting experience
  • Legal experience

At this time, the Board’s preference is for directors who have (a) lived experience as a First Nations Person or are (b) New to practice family physicians with less than three years experience. However,  Expressions of Interest from any members from the categories above will be accepted.

The board of directors represents the interests of our VDFP membership and advances the vision in alignment with Division values and mission. A director role is a unique opportunity to advocate for fulfilling, sustainable family practice in Victoria and actively engage at the tables where decisions are made.

Time commitment, remuneration, support
The Board appointments will be for a one-year term. Successful candidates will be confirmed at the November AGM.

The board meets no more than once a month, for 2.5 hours (virtual) or 3 hours (in-person). The average required prep time is one hour.

Board directors are paid the current Doctors of BC sessional rate for meeting and prep time and for any other activities they choose to participate in due to their director role.

The Division is committed to support board members in any way we can. If you are passionate about making a difference, you will be taught all else.

How to apply
