The Abbotsford Local Action Team of the provincial Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use is a collaborative co-chaired by Dr. Kara Aiton (Physician Lead) and Paul Enns (Ministry of Children and Family Development). The Collaborative includes members, specialists, MCFD, a dozen community organizations, and youth and parents with lived experiences. The collaborative is focused on increasing awareness about resources and services available and increasing timely access to care, and has actions over a dozen projects to support this aim. As planned, the Abbotsford LAT will conclude on March 31, 2017.

The Adolescent Day Treatment Program at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital, provides individualized, outpatient mental health services and educational programming for youth ages 13 to 18 with acute psychiatric illnesses. Some patients that would benefit from this program may experience hesitations because they do not know what the program entails. To address this barrier, the Abbotsford Local Action Team of the Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Collaborative funded a video that provides an overview of the ADTP, including past participants talking about their experiences.
