Teaching Clinical Skills with Island Medical Program

submitted by Island Medical Program

The Island Medical Program is inviting family physicians to teach Clinical Skills Sessions to Island Medical Program students in Years 1 & 2. These small, hands-on group sessions introduce and develop basic skills in communication, history taking and physical examinations.

There's an urgent need for tutors for the Wed, March 22 session from 1-4:30 pm (RJH Coronation Annex). We are also looking for tutors for the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year starting in September. Clinical Skills Integration – Year 2 Tutors observe 2-3 students performing focused histories and physical exams and provide case feedback.

Remuneration: Instructors will be remunerated at $91.80/hour for “teaching without patient care” in accordance with the UBC Clinical Faculty Compensation Terms. Instructors may receive extra remuneration for sessions in which they are required to assess and mark student write-ups. In order to be eligible to teach with the Faculty of Medicine, you are required to hold a Clinical Faculty Appointment. We are happy to facilitate this process for the fall if you are not already a faculty member.
