Dr. Stephanie Aung, Co-Chair

Stephanie.JPGDr. Stephanie Aung graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada. She completed her medical training in Lewiston, Maine USA. Family Medicine was her specialty of choice because she really values being able to follow her patients through their journey in life. Though she enjoyed her life in the United States, she is Canadian and wanted to return to Canada to be near her family. She chose to live in British Columbia because she loves being by water and mountains and she took her first job in New Westminster. Working there for over five years she grew a patient panel and really felt that New Westminster had a lot of diversity and challenges that kept her on her toes, helping her to constantly learn. Her relationship with her patients and community grew so strong that she felt she could not practice anywhere else and wanted to serve this community. Her special interest is in Sexual Health (Gender Diverse Care, Contraception, and STI management), and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the form of Acupuncture. Dr. Aung pioneered transgender care in this region and was awarded the Team Player of the Year award from the Fraser Northwest Division in 2018. She enjoys travelling and learning about other cultures, eating and spending time with friends and family.
