Dr. Karimé Mitha, Vice-Chair
"I am excited to be involved in improving the patient and provider experience in family practice by helping to address the specific needs of our community in Burnaby."

Dr. Karimé  Mitha has been a family physician for more than 20 years. After completing her medical degree at the University of British Columbia, she did her internship at the University of Ottawa before returning to the Lower Mainland in 1991. Together with Dr. James Hii, Karimé helped form the Burnaby Division and has been a board member since its inception in 2011. She has also been instrumental in shaping the division's work in support of the A GP for Me initiative.

Karimé's practice has a special focus on women's health and maternity care. Between 2009 and 2012, she served as the co-chair of the Department of Obstetrics at Burnaby Hospital. She has also been a clinical instructor for the UBC undergraduate medical students since 2005.

In her spare time, Karimé enjoys hiking and running the numerous trails along the North Shore mountains.
