Chilliwack, Agassiz-Harrison, and Hope have numerous hiking trails for beginners to experts, golfing on some of the most scenic courses in BC, fishing, boating, and sailing on freshwater lakes and rivers, exciting river rafting expeditions, and some of the best ski resorts in North America, all only an hour or so away! The warm waters of the Pacific Ocean are only 90 minutes away if open water boating or fishing are on your bucket list. 

Located on the Trans-Canada highway, we are just an hour away from Vancouver's cultural attractions, two hours from the wineries and orchards of the Okanagan and half an hour from the US. You don’t have to travel far to find what you’re looking for. 

For art aficionados, performing arts, music, theatre, and cinema are thriving industries in the region. Art galleries, music performances, and festivals abound--there's plenty to choose from!

Aquatics

The Spartan Swim Club is a competitive youth swimming club offering high-quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The Ferny Coombe Pool offers aquatic recreational opportunities in Agassiz. Hope's Dan Sharrers Aquatic Centre features an indoor pool for leisurely and competitive use as well as a steam room, hot tub, and sauna.
 

Bird Watching

The Great Blue Heron Reserve offers beautiful walking trails and is known for the large  breeding colony of Great Blue Herons as well as a wide variety of wildlife. Cheam Lake Wetlands is popular for hiking, picnics, and bird watching and is home to many insect, mammal, and bird species. The park's trail system, approximately 2 km long, is ideal for all ages and features raised walkways and an elevated viewing platform. Agassiz-Harrison and Hope also offer various sites for bird-watching.
 

Sailing

ChilliwackAgassiz-Harrison, and Hope are prime locations for all kinds of water recreation. Kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, jet skis, and more await! 
   

Fishing

If you're looking for a fishing challenge, make one of Chilliwack's mighty rivers or crystal clear lakes your next destination. The Fraser River is one of Canada's longest and is also one of the most productive in North America for Salmon, Steelhead, prized Chinook, and world record-sized Sturgeon. Hope has some of the best fishing in the Lower Mainland, with a wide variety of species of fish found in Hope’s rivers, lakes, and creeks.

Hiking

Mountains of adventure await you in Chilliwack. Whether you're a serious or a novice outdoors enthusiast, your quest for outdoor thrills begins and ends on and around our mountains. 

Agassiz-Harrison offers trails for all ages and abilities; from hiking excursions for families to fast-paced workouts and everything in between. 

Hope has over a hundred documented trails of varying degrees of difficulty. You can choose an easy, family-friendly hike to Flood Falls or try a more strenuous hike up Needle Peak.

     

Snow Sports

Skiing, snow-shoeing, snow-boarding, and all other things snow can be enjoyed at any of the various resorts in town.

Chilliwack Cultural Centre

Chilliwack Cultural Centre is home to a range of classes for kids and adults in painting, performing arts, photography, pottery, drawing, and crafts. In addition to art camps, workshops, and open studio time, the centre hosts numerous plays and musicals on a regular basis. The Chilliwack Visual Artists Association curates the Chilliwack Art Gallery and arranges for exhibitions of works by members and invited artists.
         

Kent Harrison Arts Council

The Kent Harrison Arts Council is a not-for-profit arts and cultural organization serving the communities of the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, District of Kent, Seabird Island, and Chehalis. This association works towards increasing and broadening the opportunities for residents of the District of Kent and the Village of Harrison Hot Springs to enjoy and participate in cultural activities.

Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra

The Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra's objective is to foster an awareness and appreciation for orchestral and choral music through concerts, education, and opportunities for the residents of Chilliwack and the surrounding communities. In doing so, they work towards providing music of the highest caliber including local, national, and international guest artists.
         

Harrison Festival Society

The Harrison Festival Society produces the Harrison Festival of the Arts, an internationally acclaimed event entering its 36th year, and the Season of Performing Arts, a series of ten to twelve professional performing arts events between September and May each year. The Society has also developed many community partners and works closely with other organizations, businesses, and institutions. 

 
 

Chilliwack Players Guild

Chilliwack Players Guild runs several theatre workshops per year, and is a member of Theatre BC and the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce. The guild has won awards at Theatre BC’s Zone and Mainstage Festivals, including Best Production (Oleanna, Mainstage & Proof, Zone). They are the resident theatre company at the Chilliwack Arts Centre, and are Core Partners with the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.


 
 

Hope Performing Arts Community Theatre Company

Hope Performing Arts Community Theatre Company (PACT) is a community group that helps local residents explore their theatrical talents. PACT is always looking for new members and creative volunteers to help with performances, production, props, set and costume design.
