Practice in Abbotsford
If you're looking for action, look no further. Abbotsford has a diverse demography, availability of land, is affordable and has a booming economy. The Abbotsford International Airport is a cornerstone of our strong infrastructure, giving us global connectivity. Two US border crossings and the Trans-Canada Hwy (Hwy No. 1), make us the hub of the Fraser Valley and a prime location for businesses aiming to expand with Vancouver being a 45 minute drive away. Abbotsford offers vibrant community centres, inclusive green neighbourhoods, cultural heritage plus natural beauty and convenient transportation. But this is only the beginning. Why I like practicing in Abbotsford
"I love practicing in Abbotsford because of the awesome GPs in the community. The city itself is great too. Where else can you catch a 35 pound salmon in the morning, then do your hospital rounds (because you choose to have hospital privileges), and then start in your office by 10 AM? This is simply the best."
-Dr Presley Moodley
"I am delighted to be in Abbotsford for my return of service. It's exciting to be part of the vibrant and caring medical group at my clinic. I received a fantastic welcome and I can see myself working here for many years. My colleagues have a passion for patient. Abbotsford has a lot to offer and I look forward to putting down roots here."
-Dr. Sarah Culkin
"Abbotsford has many options for being involved in arts and culture. I am part of the symphony in Abbotsford. The GP community is strong, like family, and there are many options to be involved in diverse health projects."
-Dr. Betsie Fourie
UBC Family Practice Residency
Our Division is proud of its relationship with the UBC Family Practice Residency Program and plans to continue providing input to both the training of preceptors and the support of residents as they graduate from the program.
We are committed to the support of all new entrants to the community (Abbotsford or otherwise) and we are running a development program to assist newcomers to become part of the medical community. The program includes formal and informal social, cultural, and CME events.
The results are encouraging, with more new doctors choosing Abbotsford. This program is not only building GP capacity, but leadership capacity in our Division as well.
