Victoria family doctors counter vaccine hesitancy: 
Let’s all get immunized without delay

In a new series of videos, local family doctors encourage everyone to get fully vaccinated and help end the pandemic.

The Victoria Division of Family Practice is releasing several videos on YouTube and Facebook over the next few weeks urging locals to get their vaccinations without delay. The videos address common concerns and false assumptions, and suggest that anybody on the fence gets their questions answered by a local family doctor.

“There is a lot of misinformation out there and as a consequence, vaccine hesitancy is a real concern in spite of the good progress with the vaccine roll-out,” says Dr Aaron Childs, family doctor with the Victoria Division of Family Practice. “With the highly transmissible ‘Delta’ COVID-19 variant present on the Island, it is crucially important for everyone to get both their first and second dose as soon as possible. Full vaccination will maximize protection against all strains and is our ticket to getting back to normal without setbacks.” Read more


New online directory helps patients access their family doctors for virtual care

The new Pathways BC Virtual Care Directory, www.pathwaysbcvirtualcare.ca, is a tool for patients across British Columbia to look up their local doctors and find out whether they’re providing virtual care and to access information on how to connect with them. For patients without a family doctor, the directory includes listings of local walk-in clinics as well as Urgent and Primary Care Centres where they can connect with a community physician. Physicians in BC now available via virtual care

BC.’s doctors are now available to provide care to patients using telephone or video during the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to providing in-person care when necessary.

The increased use of virtual care allows patients to receive medical care from their own doctor while practicing physical distancing or self-isolation. It protects not only patients, but also their doctors so they can continue to treat patients during the virus outbreak. Read more.
