Surrey-North Delta Division of Family Practice

New Executive Director Announcement

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

To our Division members, staff and partners,

It is with personal regret but warm wishes that we take this opportunity to announce the retirement of our Division’s Executive Director, Brian Kines effective August 15th, 2019.

Brian has been instrumental in the growth and progression of our Division over the last three years. During his time with us, he applied his vast experience and expertise in the non-profit and health sectors, propelling us to our present position and preparing us as we engage into what is the new and exciting vision for Primary Care in BC.

We at the division, are indebted to his vision, leadership, commitment, contributions and support. He will be greatly missed. Please join us in wishing Brian all the best in his new endeavors.

Our board has always been committed to ensuring that our Division continues to meet the needs of our members. With that in mind, we also take this opportunity to inform you that we have successfully found a replacement to serve the mission and vision of our organization.

We are happy to inform you that Tomas Reyes has accepted to join us as our new Executive Director as of July 1st, 2019. Tomas comes with a background in business, Board of Directors’ leadership, operations, project/change management, community development, engagement and facilitation.

In the health sector, he worked for two years as a Manager and PMO for the Primary Health Care department at Fraser Health, collaborating closely with Divisions and family physicians in the Fraser region; and for three years as the ‘A GP for Me’ Provincial Initiative Lead under the FPSC at Doctors of BC, leading and supporting the implementation of this initiative across the province.

In these past (close to) two years, Tomas has been working directly with some of the Fraser region divisions, in the design, development and implementation of Patient Medical Homes and Primary Care Networks, actively engaging and strengthening relationships with family physicians and partners in the community.

In his spare time, he cherishes his family and spends as much time as possible with them. He also enjoys running, volunteering in his community, spending time with his friends and looking for opportunities to travel, both near and far, searching for new experiences.

Please join us in welcoming Tomas to his new role and to the Division. We are convinced that he will continue with the legacy and great work that Brian started and has been leading and supporting during these last three years. Between July 1st and August 15th there will be a natural transition period in which Brian and Tomas will be working together.

Sincerely,

Dr. Baldev Dhillon and Dr. Elaine Jackson
