Born and raised in Witless Bay Newfoundland, Maggie completed a BSc(Hons) in Life Sciences at Queen’s University and an MBA at Memorial as a Fellow of the School of Graduate Studies. Her subsequent work with pioneering organizations such as Ontario Genomics and MASSLBP further fuelled her interest in the confluence of policy and societal change. She completed medical school at Memorial University, where she became involved with advocacy campaigns for equitable access to healthcare, and worked with her provincial medical association in the engagement and retention of physicians. She is currently in her first year of Family Medicine residency at UBC, during which she intends to continue to grow her understanding of  the political-social-economic framework of healthcare on Vancouver Island. In her free time, she can be found biking, running with her dog Gus, and backcountry camping as a way to explore the beautiful and rugged west coast.
