Claudia Frowein, Executive Director

Claudia brings over 20 years leadership and healthcare management experience to the organization, from both the public and non-profit sector.

Prior to joining the Division in 2015, she spent 15 years with Vancouver Coastal Health in clinical management & system redesign roles (including mental health, acute care, and community health programs), and worked with non-profit societies as a program director.

Claudia holds a Masters in Psychology. She grew up on the North Shore and is committed to ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

 

Meghan Burrows, Project Coordinator

Meghan’s varied background includes program design and management experience. From creating a post secondary diploma program with the Continuing Education Department at the Burnaby District School Board, to 5 years of experience providing therapeutic services in Residential Care, and leading the development of a mental health project for Vancouver Coastal Health from 2016-2018.

Meghan has a degree in Biology and a post-graduate diploma in Recreation Therapy. She also provides subject matter expertise as a Recreation Therapist for movement intervention programs. In her role at NSDFP, Meghan coordinates the Residential Care Initiative and provides project leadership to the Opiate and Pain Management Initiative.

Meghan lives on the North Shore and is an avid athlete who can be found running or skiing in the mountains after work.

 

Dewey Evans, Evaluation Support

Dewey is an experienced health systems manager, health services researcher and epidemiologist which is complemented with a consulting background in policy reviews; program design and evaluation; design and evaluation of public health surveillance systems; and the design and management of quality management programs.

 

Barb Fiddler, Pathways Administrator

Barb brings over 35 years of healthcare experience, including health care management to the organization. Prior to joining the Division in 2016, she spent 15 years with Vancouver Coastal Health in medical administration and physician management roles. She also worked for 20 years at BC Cancer Agency in various roles within Administration.

Barb grew up in Vancouver and has been living on the North Shore for over 15 years.

 

Doris Gouin, Project Manager

Doris is a certified Project Manager, with a Certificate in Law and a Diploma in Opticianry.  Prior to joining the Division, she was the Accreditation Manager for the largest vision correction provider in North America. Working closely with Ophthalmologists, she has led several non-hospital surgical facilities openings, and developed a strong interest for Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) processes.

Doris grew up in Montreal. Karaoke enthusiast and avid world explorer, she has been living on the West Coast since 2014. To say that Doris likes project management is an understatement! Implementing paradigm-shifting ideas is what she prefers.

 

Kate O'Donnell, Project Manager

Kate is originally from London, UK and has lived in Canada for nine years, recently becoming a full citizen.

Holding a MSc in Biological Anthropology and a Project Management Certification (Prince 2 - Practitioner level), Kate cumulates over 20 years of experience as a Project Manger in both Canada and the UK. Her diversified background includes work for non-profit organisations, charities and international banking institutions.

Previously, Kate worked with the Nanaimo Division of Family Practice, as well as being involved with the Vancouver Island Health Authority, and managing patient flow initiatives for Nanaimo General Hospital.

Working in collaboration with colleagues from the Vancouver Coastal Health and the First Nations, Kate is delighted to be leading the development and implementation of Patient Medical Homes (PMH) and Primary Care Networks (PCN) initiatives on the North Shore. An avid traveller, she looks forward to her next far flung adventure.

 

Tricia Raeburn, Coordinator, Administration/ Recruitment & Retention

 

Candace Travis, Medical Office Innovation Advisor

Candace has over 25 years of experience directly supporting Family Physicians and their office staff, primarily on the North Shore, and is well known to our members. Previous roles include Health Technology Advisor at Doctors Technology Office (DoBC), Coordinator at the Practice Support Program (VCH), and Relationship Manager and Practice Automation Coach at the Physician Information Technology Office (PITO).

Over the course of her career, Candace has sharpened her skills as a quality improvement coach and developed a deep understanding of workflow within physician practices.

 

Steve Orti, Membership & Event Coordinator, Communications

Steve moved to Vancouver 2 years ago looking for a new opportunity that would offer new challenges and opportunities for growth. His previous roles have been diverse and unique, ranging from financial administration working with Sun Life Insurance and MCAP Mortgage Services, to various leadership roles in customer service managing many different restaurants and high volume retail spaces such as EB Games and Best Buy during the holiday seasons, as well as a few years early in his career as a helicopter pilot.

Most recently he held a position working for Scanline VFX, a local visual effects production studio, where he was responsible for facilitating events for 200+ staff on a regular monthly basis.  

He has a history for getting in situations where he can learn new sets of skills while also leveraging his past experiences to achieve greater success. He brings this enthusiasm to our members on the North Shore through the various events hosted by the Division.
