The Thompson Region Division of Family Practice, Interior Health Authority, and UBC Okanagan collaborated on prototyping telehealth as a viable specialist's referral option in the Thompson Region.

The project began in July 2013 with the project team trialing two different models of telehealth: telephone consults between Dr. Charlotte Jones and Family Physicians, Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners from the Thompson Region; and videoconferencing at the Kamloops and Nicola Valley Diabetes Education Centres between Dr. Jones and Diabetes Educators, Nurses and patients.
